Volunteer Survey

eargym's mission

Our mission is to discover how immersive auditory training can best address the effects of age-related hearing loss on our social interactions and cognitive decline, globally. eargym is a new business launched through Zinc’s social mission lead venture builder, we have recently finished testing our prototype and are currently developing our first product.

Together with our other partners in academia, charities and industry, we are creating enjoyable, immersive listening training to help you keep hearing the sounds you love to hear. Below you can experience our prototype and we would love your thoughts, feedback and ideas on how we can make our next version so much better.

We appreciate your time, we would love it if you could take 30 minutes or so to;

1. Listen to 1 or more of the (5-8min) audio experiences below using headphones.

2. Complete the survey at the bottom of the page and share your valuable thoughts.

How the prototype works

We asked the 35 people in our original user test panel to test their hearing and take a short survey, then listen to one audio experience a day for five days. The audio experiences are entertaining short stories, you might recognise some of them, recorded in 360 degree binaural audio and edited in post production to test The World Health Organisations 5 auditory skills - sound detection, localisation, discrimination, intelligibility in quiet, and intelligibility in noise.  Each experience prompts the user to look out for specific things which they are tested on, together with a few other questions in a short survey that they completed after listening. At the end of the 5 days there was a final feedback form.

We have included the short audio stories below for you to experience as many or few as you like, before you give us feedback on the whole eargym concept - please remember to use your headphones.
